What is a sales lead? It can be defined in many different ways. its definition can be one of the major conflicts between sales and marketing and indeed between marketing and higher management.

What is relevant (or not) is easier to define and measure. A target individual has raised their hand. They want to know more. There is a conversation to be had.

To be clear a relevant conversation is not ‘I want to buy’ or ‘where do I sign’ but it is a potential step on the way. Not all relevant conversations will lead anywhere but they will be some form of active engagement.
